About the Role
Exciting opportunity for an experienced journalist to join the Asia Pacific Newsroom's Indonesian Language team, to create high quality news stories with a focus on Indonesia and the Indonesian Diaspora. The role will include:
- Sourcing original stories from the Indonesian community and within Indonesia to add context and depth to the ABC’s coverage of the region.
- Collaborating with other newsroom teams (Chinese, Tok Pisin, Digital Storytelling Team, The World, and Pacific Beat) on the digital and social media treatments of international content.
- Working across areas including assisting with the cross-platform roll-out of bilingual stories and accurately translate stories from across the ABC for in-language news platforms as required.
About You
You speak and write Bahasa Indonesia fluently and have well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a culturally diverse team. Your skills and experience will include:
- Ability to demonstrate editorial judgement.
- Practical experience as a journalist in radio, television and or digital platforms, with relevant tertiary qualifications.
- Understanding of and ability to identify trends in digital news consumption, new media technologies and platforms.
- Understanding of audience behaviour, including ideas to build new audiences for and enhance the experience of the ABC’s international news content.
- Willingness to adapt and change in an evolving digital environment.
