About the role:
As a Senior Lecturer in the Melbourne Music Department, you'll be delivering academic and practical content in a classroom setting, coordinating and implementing student support initiatives, mentoring students within the music course, closely supporting the Head of Department, and promoting JMC Academy externally.
Duties include:
- Teaching, in addition to student mentoring.
- Coordinating and implementing student support initiatives.
- Managing student databases.
- Tracking and managing student attendance and results.
- Developing resources and curriculum.
- Providing academic leadership and support to lecturers.
- Maintaining currency of professional expertise and participating in professional development opportunities made available to you.
- Administrative duties as necessary to ensure sound conduct of the business of the Music Department.
- Representing JMC Academy positively in all your dealings.
Reporting
You report to your head of department on day-to-day operational matters.
Key selection criteria
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in music.
Honours, post graduate diploma or equivalent industry experience.
Master’s Degree or higher in music or a closely related field highly regarded.
Skills and experience:
- High-level knowledge of and experience in contemporary music performance, composition, and/or production.
- Academic work in a tertiary environment (lecturer, curriculum development).
- Teaching experience in higher education settings with an exemplary record in guiding and inspiring all levels of student to achieve positive academic goals.
- Outstanding skills, expertise and success in your creative field, substantiated through positive reputation, public profile and/or industry review.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a close-knit team environment.
- Well organized, with excellent time management skills, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- High-level administrations skills managing databases and student records.
