They are 100% privately and locally owned and have been consulting to the engineering industry for over 60 years. With modern offices in convenient locations across Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra and Melbourne, they have a National Civil team of 50 and nearly 400 people in total.
This engineering consultancy has gone from strength to strength, with unlimited potential, the future is looking extremely exciting. Their main aim now is to become a civil powerhouse to match their outstanding reputation in other engineering divisions. They look to achieve this through heavy investment in this team and with the appointment of a National Civil Manager to lead the civil team to achieve this vision.
The role
Reporting to the Executive Director, the National Civil Manager is a key leadership role. In this exciting role, you will solidify the market in which they are already experts and guide diversification and transformation; repositioning this company as a preferred engineering partner across multiple specialities within the civil sector.
The National Civil Manager will grow and lead the civil team by working with them to ensure the delivery of projects within budget, timeframes and standards of excellence.
In addition, you will be responsible for the winning of major projects, identifying sales and marketing opportunities for the future pipeline, whilst maintaining a positive relationship with current clients.
The responsibilities
In this career defining role, every day will be varied and rewarding and will see you be responsible for:
- Leading, managing and coaching the national team to grow, develop and deliver value organisationally and for stakeholders.
- Building, maintaining and fostering strong relationships with clients, working closely with the executives in the context of the strategic plan to support existing and developing new business.
- Lead the delivery of technically accurate, cost-effective and optimum designs in accordance with the relevant standards.
- Identify and seek opportunities to lead and contribute to innovative and technical improvement projects for the business.
Opportunities are plentiful here. This role would be suitable for someone who:
- Has previous experience as a Senior Leader or at least 10 years’ experience at a senior management level in a professional engineering design consultancy
- Is recognised as a civil industry leader (from a staff, client, contractor and technical presentive)
- Demonstrated leadership and business development skills across multiple business units
- Strong experience in Governance and Risk Management
- Ability to develop detailed, compliant and realistic budgets, plans, and targeted strategies to meet set goals
- Ability to interpret financial and marketing data and undertake analysis and reporting
- Thorough understanding of the legal and regulatory requirements relating to your discipline
