  • Make a difference in the community helping those in need
  • Work/life balance through flexible and hybrid working

Join us and make a difference!

This is a unique and interesting opportunity to work for an organisation in a role that has a direct impact helping the community and animals by partnering with Veterinary Clinics, local Councils and other organisations throughout Australia.

About NDN

Every year an astounding number of unplanned and unwanted litters of puppies and kittens are born. These unplanned animals contribute to animal welfare centres around Australia struggling to cope with increasing numbers of surrendered pets, and pets in crisis. It is so important our companion animals have a loving home where they are wanted and feel safe and secure. To be part of the solution AWLQ established the National Desexing Network, we help by supporting an Australia-wide referral system, supporting cat and dog pet owners in financial need, to access low-cost desexing.

Support includes:

  • Vets who participate all year round to help pension, concession or healthcare card holders.
  • Councils who budget to subsidise desexing to prevent unwanted animals through our NDN Cooperative Desexing Program. NDN provides complimentary management for Council programs; the entire remuneration provided by Councils is used to help residents in need.
  • Other organisations in other parts of Australia who offer desexing support.
  • National Desexing Month held in July every year whereby vets will offer low cost desexing to the general public.

The role

Reporting to the AWLQ C.E.O. the NDN Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient management of the National Desexing Network operations, and the expansion of the use of the programs.

  • Build positive relationships with Local Councils and Veterinary Clinics nation-wide to establish new programs.
  • Coordinate National Desexing Month each July to deliver an effective annual event.
  • Review and monitor procedures to maximise efficiencies, initiate and suggest continuous improvements.
  • Liaise with our marketing team to create material to update websites and other relevant publications to promote awareness of program.
  • Customer service: lead the team, answer call centre phones and respond to email enquiries.
  • Issue desexing vouchers to the public.
  • Build and maintain positive, strong and cooperative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide regular reporting on effectiveness of the programs.

About you

We value who you are and how you achieve excellence with purpose, empathy and courage. Our ideal candidate will be driven to make a difference, you will be excited when a council or vet clinic agree to participate, you will nurture the relationship by providing outstanding service and communication. If someone says spreadsheet – you say yes please with genuine excitement, balancing that sheet gives you a thrill, as you are an administration guru with great attention to detail. You will be a motivated, ‘hands on’ team player, who listens to feedback and thrives on achievement.
