The opportunity:

Visy is a clear market leader in recycled plastic resin and rigid packaging, focusing on the Beverage, Food, Dairy, Household and Industrial segments. As one of Australia's largest manufacturers of PET containers, we produce more than 30,000 tons of recycled resin and +2 billion plastic containers per annum and have a long history of providing quality, cutting-edge plastics products, and are constantly expanding our product range to meet our client’s needs.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for leadership of site and state level management within the Plastics structure, supporting Plant Managers to achieve their specific targets and meet the strategic objectives of the business, delivering the KPI’s for Visy Plastics – Rigid & Recycled operations.

A focus in the role will be to continually improve the manufacturing performance of the business, identifying initiatives to meet safety, quality, efficiency, people, volume and commercial targets by preparing, executing and reporting on long-term strategic plans, annual budgets and monthly forecasts.

Further to this, key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Contribute to the strategic planning of Visy Plastics – Rigid & Recycled and be accountable for executing the strategy
• Monitor and review performance across the sites (agreed KPI’s) to deliver on expectations for plant efficiency, spoilage, equipment reliability, productivity, and quality
• Comply with and promote the requirements of the VISY OH&S System, participate in reporting of Hazards and ensure Plant Managers have appropriate plans in place
• Lead the Sales & Operations Planning process to achieve targets for the business and support the efficient operation at Plant level to meet customer needs
• Manage Profit Improvement Plans (PIPs) including the processes for review and reporting, to drive a low cost or high value environment
• Monitor and track the delivery of major projects at a plant level in line with business case objectives

What you will bring to the team:

• Preference for degree qualification in relevant specialisation such as engineering or business
• Leadership and facilitation of experienced plant management and technical experts to achieve targets
• High Speed manufacturing experience within an industrial environment with union representation
• Production systems and Good Manufacturing Practice – integration of these within KPI performance tracking
• Continuous improvement & lean applications with ability to think strategically and tactically
• Understanding of the Plastics – Rigid & Recycled manufacturing process, particularly the challenges to core metrics such as quality and efficiency is desirable
