What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of National Operations State Service Centre - Western Command.
The diverse role is a hybrid support role assisting NOSSC-Western, Property & Exhibits and Operational Performance Monitoring and Analysis (OPMA), with the effective recording, monitoring and reporting of issues arising from operations and providing advice.
This position works under a support working pattern as defined in the Australian Federal Police Enterprise Agreement 2017-2020.
This position presents an ideal opportunity for motivated applicants seeking to contribute and provide support to operational outcomes of investigative work undertaken by AFP officers within Western Command.
The NOSSC-Western is looking for a proactive and inquisitive natured person with an eye for detail, computer literacy, ability to adapt to change and great time management. This role is based at Western Command, located at our Perth Headquarters. Successful Applicants will be required to relocate to Perth.
You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.
What will you do?
- Maintenance of a secure evidence storage facility and the management of exhibits in accordance with AFP and legislative requirements;
- Provision of advice relating to lodgement, handling and disposal of drug and property exhibits, as required;
- Undertaking a range of operational support tasks including liaising with partner agencies and handling enquiries from members of the public;
- Actioning new reports and requests which will progress through from evaluation, tabling at the local Capacity and Capability Committee for a determination for investigation and notifying clients/agencies;
- Undertake a role in a command and control environment where required, to support operational and investigative activities and incident control;
- Ensuring output is achieved within the strategic direction of the AFP and utilising AFP information systems to interrogate, input, collate and retrieve data for compliance reports and to ensure adherence to relevant legislative, policy and/or governance requirements;
- Developing team members and fulfilling a guiding, mentoring and advisory role; and
- Undertaking a range of support tasks as directed by the Team Leader NOSSC-Western.
Essential Requirements
- You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
- Hold a Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Have contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role.
Desirable Requirements
The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:
- An understanding of command and control – ICCS +
- Relevant qualification or extensive experience and knowledge in area of expertise.
Additional Information
- This position is an AFP Band Level 4
- Proof of a minimum of two COVID-19 vaccinations (or one dose if the Janssen vaccine was used) will be required if an offer of employment is made.
