About the Role

As a Naval Architect we would like to to work with our Marine Survey team, you will ensure vessel integrity and inspections are conducted in accordance with correct standards and procedures to provide compliance, advice and excellent service to our customers.

Your role is to complete periodic, initial survey, maritime consulting on Private and Domestic Commercial Vessels, for the Australian Marine Industry. The role is working from home and predominantly Monday to Friday however, some outside hours as well as interstate travel may be required. Flexible working arrangements are welcomed. A normal week for a MSA Surveyor may be, 2 -3 days in the field and the rest of the time at home completing consulting work, plan approval, stability assessments etc.

You will be supported by the team of Marine Surveyors offering technical advice and solutions when required.

About the Person

  • To be eligible for this position, you will be technically qualified as a Naval Architect.
  • Ideally, hold accreditation from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority as a Domestic Commercial Vessel Surveyor with accreditation in the appropriate  categories to complete Initial and Periodic Survey. If accreditation is not held, we are willing to put the right person through the internal and external training required to gain accreditation.
  • Must hold Australian Citizenship or the required permission to work in Australia.
  • Applicants must be fluent in the English language.
  • You will be knowledgeable in the relevant standards, practices, and toolsets.
  • Your knowledge and understanding of the rules and regulations that apply to Domestic Commercial Vessels and commitment to customer service will be key to your success.
  • You must have strong administration, communication and technical report writing skills.
  • Maritime Survey Australia is a paperless company, so you must be tech savvy.
  • To be eligible for this position, you must hold a current Australian driver’s license.
  • You must be self motivated and be comfortable working independently.
