An exciting opportunity exists for the Nurse Educator to work in a centralised team-based model as part of the Nursing and Midwifery Practice Development Team and will hold the portfolio linking to the Emergency Departments across the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS), amongst other education related portfolios.
The role supports and enables an evidence-based learning culture and facilitates opportunities for learning via the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical education programs and resources, whilst being accountable to professionally support and manage Clinical Coaches, in collaboration with the Nursing Unit Managers / Midwife Unit Manager, and provide the necessary education frameworks, governance and educational tools to enable Clinical Coaches to deliver point of care education. There is a requirement for the role to travel to, and work regularly from, all sites across the SCHHS, including Maleny, Gympie, Sunshine Coast University Hospital in Birtinya, and Nambour.
The Nurse Educator position is part of the Nursing and Midwifery Practice Development Team and reports to the Nursing Director of Education. The Nurse Educator may have several Clinical Coaches reporting to them and must work collaboratively within Nursing and Midwifery Practice Development Team (NMPDT) to ensure key components of nursing educational models are adhered to.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) – State 2015 – Generic Level Statements Nurse Grade 7 and the Queensland Public Service values.
- Understand your broad responsibilities for safety and quality in healthcare, actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace and notify a relevant clinical or non-clinical responsible officer when concerns exist about workplace or patient safety.
- Practice in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting nursing practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position.
