Access theRole detailsThe Clinical Excellence Unit at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Nurse Educator, General Surgical Unit, to join their team on a temporary part time basis.How to apply and for mandatory requirements regarding this role, please refer to the attached Role Description.Your opportunityThe Nurse Educator is an employee who is a registered nurse who:

• Is appointed to an advanced practice nursing position; and
• Demonstrates a specialised clinical expertise and/or specialised skill set.

Classification may include but is not limited to:

• Responsibility for explicit professional portfolio content and context expertise.
• Expertise in the provision of direct care and/or support of systems and/or education and/or professional leadership.
• Consultation and provision of professional advice.
• Responsibility for a cohort of staff reporting to the position. and/or education and research advice.
• Contemporary nurse education leadership in the provision of mandatory training, ongoing professional education and developing the clinical competencies of less experienced staff necessary to ensure professional standards are maintained and safe, effective, ethical and efficient clinical services are delivered.
• Collaborative practice as part of the leadership team for Surgical services and Division of Perioperative and Ambulatory care Services.
• Well-developed communication skills: interpersonal, verbal, written and computer literacy including programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated high level of expertise in the field of surgical management and emergencies.
• Ability to facility the Performance Appraisal & Development plan for staff in conjunction with the nursing leadership team.

The ward utilises a multidisciplinary approach aims to provide a high standard of patient-focused care through assessment, planning, early intervention, and evaluation of acute surgical problems to support people in achieving optimal health outcomes.About our Hospital and Health Servicehas 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,700 staff.
