Monash Children’s at Home provides healthcare services for infants, children and their families at Home and in the community, who require ongoing specialised and often complex medical and nursing care.
We are seeking a permanent part time Nurse Manager to work Monday to Friday
A Day in the Life
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced leader to take the next step in their career and join us as we develop and grow our Monash Children’s at Home service. The Nurse Manager role will be to establish the policies and procedures for the effective operation of the program and will be involved in the ongoing recruitment, support and development of the clinical nursing staff.
You will:
  • Lead and manage the services provided by Monash Children’s at Home
  • Ensure staff at the centre are providing education and support to families and children in their home environment
  • Ensure that the staff within the team have the knowledge and skills to work independently and safely, providing best evidence based practice.
  • Be actively involved in developing, promoting, and progressing continuous quality improvement initiatives in line with best practice
  • Participate in budget planning, and continually monitor, manage, and evaluate budgets to ensure expected outcomes are achieved in line with funding
About You
This role will suit someone who is looking to take their leadership experience to the next level, and who wants to broaden their management scope. You will be an experienced Registered Nurse, with a background in paediatrics, midwifery, neonatal care, maternal and child health and/or mental health or Community Nursing and you pride yourself on the empathetic and family centred care you provide, and role model for those around you. You understand the importance of the family unit in promoting child health and wellbeing, and you are committed to driving this as the Nurse Manager program. Your strong communication and stakeholder management skills will see you excel in this role as you will be liaising with a large support team, both internal and external to Monash, to ensure the successful outcomes for our attending families. You will also:
  • Demonstrate clinical expertise and leadership in this field of nursing
  • Have gained experience across change management and implementation
  • Show proven people and communication skills including relationship building, cooperation, conflict resolution, influencing others and facilitating open discussions
  • Be committed to role modelling the Monash Health iCare values
What you need:
  • Demonstrated Clinical experience with current continuum of practice inclusive of children’s nursing qualifications
  • An accredited postgraduate degree/diploma (or equivalent) in Paediatrics/ Neonatal or Special Care Nursing, Maternal and Child Health Nursing, Community Nursing or Midwifery will be highly regarded
  • Recent Nursing leadership and management experience across any of the following areas: child and family health, working with vulnerable and/or at risk children and families and/or working with high needs children and families
  • Familiarity with working in home and community environments and ideally an understanding of HITH, PAC and complex care
  • Post graduate studies in leadership or management will be highly regarded
  • Current AHPRA registration

Selection Criteria Post Graduate qualifications in Paediatric Nursing /Special Care Nursing / Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing / Maternal and Child Health Nursing / Midwifery / Community Nursing
A minimum 5 year post registration experience, with current continuum of practice inclusive of children's nursing
Familiarity with HITH, PAC, and Complex Care
Understanding of working in home and community environments
