The Rural Generalist Nurse Practitioner/Transitional Nurse Practitioner (NP/TNP) will be centralised to a network within the Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD). The position will provide autonomous and collaborative care in an advanced and extended nursing clinical role targeting three of the six meta-specialities including Emergency/Acute, Aging/Palliative and primary health care. These roles will function both within and across the sites and services within these networks. Rural Generalist NP/TNPs need to be able to manage a broad range of acute and chronic presentations across the lifespan to address patient and community needs. NP/TNPs will receive and make referrals to facilitate integrated care across disciplines or teams.
Nurse Practitioners are core in ensuring patient centred care is delivered to consumers within the Acute Inpatient service. The Acute Inpatient service consists of three units within Bloomfield Hospital. The right candidate will be part of a large MDT that ensures smooth journeys for consumers. They will work closely with the Clinical Director of Acute Services and the Heads of Department. They will follow an LHD Scope of Practice supported by Nursing and Midwifery within the LHD and the State.
