The role:
The Nurse Practitioner/Transitional Nurse Practitioner (TNP/NP) at Warialda MPS plays a crucial role in enhancing emergency healthcare delivery. Working collaboratively with existing services, the NP provides vital face-to-face care in the Emergency Department, focusing on patients across all triage levels. This includes the immediate management of Triage 1 and Triage 2 cases and comprehensive assessment, treatment, and follow-up care for Triage 3, 4, and 5 cases. In the absence of an onsite doctor, the NP also assumes responsibility for overseeing patient care in the inpatient and residential aged care facility settings.
The ideal candidate will possess advanced skills in emergency care, capable of independently assessing, diagnosing, planning, treating, and evaluating patients within the Nurse Practitioner's scope of practice. This role demands strong autonomy and clinical leadership, contributing significantly to the team and area of practice. Supported by Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD), which boasts a robust network of over 100 Nurse Practitioners and transitional roles across various specialties, the NP/TNP will benefit from multidisciplinary support committees, district-wide networks, and governance structures. Onsite support from local medical staff and management ensures a supportive environment for professional growth and excellence in patient care.
