Nurse Unit ManagerPerioperative Services Day Procedure Unit (DPU) Full Time Ashford Hospital Adelaide Community Healthcare Alliance Incorporated, known as ACHA Health, is one of the largest private not-for-profit hospital groups in South Australia.
ACHA Health comprises Ashford Hospital, Flinders Private Hospital and The Memorial Hospital. An opportunity exists for a highly motivated Registered Nurse with exceptional leadership and clinical skills to join our management team in the role of Nurse Unit Manager, DPU at Ashford Hospital.
The Nurse Unit Manager is responsible for supervising and managing department staff, providing leadership to the nursing units and for ensuring positive staff and VMO relationships, as well as ensuring clinical quality and patient satisfaction. Ashford Hospital offers a range of specialties including cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, general surgery, general medicine, gynaecology and maternity, oncology, orthopaedics, urology and vascular surgery. Ashford Hospital has 9 operating theatres, 1 procedure room, 2 angiography labs, an emergency department, maternity services and a 24 bed level 3 critical care unit.
Selection Criteria:
Registered Nurse with five or more years' experience in DPU practice
One or more years supervisory or management experience
Knowledge of the 8 National Standards (NSQHS) and how they relate to practice
Advanced leadership and negotiation skills
A commitment to a high standard of clinical and customer focused care
Ability to lead staff in a manner that is encouraging and supportive
Demonstrate a sound knowledge base in labour management
Exposure to dynamic DPU environment Principle Accountabilities:
Responsible for the day-to-day supervisory operations of DPU in collaboration with other hospital Nurse Unit Managers and the Perioperative Services Manager
Formulate and ensure optimal patient outcomes and satisfaction through ongoing quality and safety initiatives
Participation in unit and hospital based committees and performance improvement initiatives
Supervise staffing and scheduling; addresses performance issues and provide input into corrective action as necessary; provide input into staff performance reviews in a timely and effective manner
Liaise and negotiate with VMOs
