The Role
An opportunity has become available for a Nurse Unit Manager (Mental Health - Lavender Mother Baby Inpatient Unit) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Function as a clinical nursing expert for the Unit to develop team capability and to champion proactive and contemporary Mental Health nursing practices
- Participate directly and indirectly in the delivery of clinical care
- Apply the principles of best practice, education, leadership and portfolio management to coordinate operations and develop team competency and capacity within the unit
- Understand key performance indicators and use of clinical audit data to improve clinical effectiveness and consumer outcomes
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
- A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
- Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
- Be credentialed through the College of Mental Health Nurses (or be prepared to work towards a credential in Mental Health Nursing)
- A Masters or higher qualification within a relevant area is highly desirable
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

- Permanent full time
- Base salary ranging from $128 701 - $139 732 per annum
About Us
The Lavender Mother Baby Service consists of both a community team and a specialised state-wide Inpatient Unit. The community team provides a triage/intake role and, where suitable, undertakes comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessments, formulation and recommendations. This team provides a consultation and liaison role both on admission and discharge. Additionally, the community team has the capacity to provide post discharge follow-up for up to a period of three months to support transition to local services. Based in Southport.
