Job Description
We are seeking a Nurse Unit Manager for our Scrub Scout Perioperative Team based in Epworth Geelong, Waurn Ponds for a temporary full-time position from 29th July 2024 until 29th June 2025.
The Nurse Unit Manager will be responsible for the operational and clinical leadership of the Scrub Scout team within the Epworth Geelong Perioperative Services department, to deliver outstanding patient care to patients and their families. You will be part of the Epworth Geelong leadership team and report to the Associate Director of Clinical Services.
The Nurse Unit Manager will provide clinical and professional leadership to the team who are committed to providing individualised care with our strategic focus that every patient matters.

- Ensuring patient flow is managed whilst providing high standards of patient care
- Building and nurturing a strong capable workforce within the unit
- Promoting and supporting ongoing learning and education for all staff within the unit

- Supporting the goals and strategy of the organisation
To be successful in this role:
- Have current nursing registration with AHPRA
- Have a contemporary knowledge of best practice in perioperative procedures and the patient journey
- Be an experienced clinical leader, capable of supporting and engaging staff, committed to providing exceptional high quality care to patients
- Experience promoting and supporting ongoing learning and education for your team
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing environments
- Possess strong communication and customer liaison skills
- Demonstrated ability in financial management and understanding of budgets.
- Related Post Graduate qualifications (clinical or leadership) desirable

Epworth Geelong, located adjacent to Deakin University’s Medical School in Waurn Ponds, is developing an environment of world-class health care and education to meet the needs of the expanding population of Geelong and South West Victoria. Our Peri-operative environment consists of 9 Operating Theatres including a Hybrid Theatre, Cath Lab and 2 endoscopy suites.Located all on the one level we have the Operating Theatre, Cath Lab, ICU and Day Surgery allowing excellent patient flow and best patient care. As there is an increased demand for the excellence Epworth Geelong provide to its patients and VMO’s, our operating theatres are continuing to expand. Currently our specialities include; Orthopaedics, Vascular, General, Macs Facs, ENT, Pain, Ophthalmology, Endoscopy, Plastics, Neurosurgery and Urology. We operate Monday to Friday with emergencies on weekends which helps provide flexible rostering, giving our staff an excellent work/life balance. With education as a key motivator for our department we provide multiple opportunities for our staff to develop new skills as well as continue to build on their already strong knowledge base.
