- Permanent Full Time position (80 hours a fortnight)
About the Special Care Nursery
The Special Care Nursery at Barwon Health is a Level 5 neonatal nursery. It has capacity for up to 20 cots and is staffed for 12 babies with the ability to increase as required. SCN was redeveloped with the assistance of the Cotton On foundation. The facilities are fresh and vibrant and include 2 resuscitation rooms, respiratory support capability for up to 4 babies, a separate parent lounge and 2 overnight rooms.
About the role
In the Special Care Nursery as the Nurse Unit Manager you will work closely with the Associate Nurse Unit Managers and the Clinical Nurse Specialist staff to provide care to neonates from 31 weeks onwards. Staffing is 1:3 according to ratios and self-rostering is available to staff covering all shifts with the opportunity to do ad-hoc 12 hour shifts.
There are graduate programs catered for with a strong education and support nurse team training our future staff.
As the manager you will be responsible for fiscal management of the unit, rostering, recruitment, retention and future planning for the new Women's and Children's building.
