What you'll be doing
The Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) Level 2 Auburn Hospital is responsible for the efficient management of nursing staff and providing patient care services under their delegation in the Unit.
The NUM is pivotal to the coordination of patient care, unit management and leadership of the nursing and midwifery profession to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and the efficient use of resources

Essential Requirements: * Registration: Current and valid registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
Selection Criteria: * Relevant tertiary qualifications in management and /or speciality, working towards attainment in same, or extensive clinical experience in the field that demonstrates ability to perform the role.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and implement change within the context of best practice clinical care and workplace culture
- Demonstrated design, implement and evaluate the Surgical service at the ward level, and provide support and guidance to ensure an appropriately skilled and qualified nursing workforce, working within appropriate models of care
- Demonstrated effective and high level communication skills including negotiation and conflict resolutions skills in addition to proven ability to motivate and engage people in the clinical setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuous improvement whilst ensuring currency of practice in the relevant specialty.
- Demonstrated ability and commitment to collaborative and integrated multidisciplinary teamwork, aimed at building and strengthening partnerships with consumers and key stakeholders to provide best practice service delivery.
- Strong commitment to the on-going development/enhancement of nursing practice within a patient centred, multi-disciplinary clinical environment.
- Relevant skills for management – financial management of budget; rostering/recruitment, Incident management, human resource management in performance reviews and implementation of improvement plans, excessive sick/annual leave management. Recruitment and auditing including training in database programmes and data entry.
