MMG Dugald River:
The mine; Dugald River is fully owned by MMG Limited and is one of the world’s top 10 Zinc operations and is mined underground. Dugald River is expected to produce around 180,000 – 190,000 tonnes of zinc in zinc concentrate annually. The operation employs around 500 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis. With a mine life of >20 years MMG is driving leading practices across its operations.
Occupational Nurse
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Occupational Nurse to join our SHEC team at MMGs Dugald River operation.
Reporting to the Superintendent – Health and Safety, you will be responsible for providing Registered Nurse care to the Dugald River site and the provision of specialist advice and assistance in relation to the assessment of occupational health screening and ongoing monitoring requirements.
This is a genuine career opportunity for a highly motivated health professional, who is looking to expand their capabilities within a supportive team environment.
The role is available on a bus in, bus out basis (BIBO) from Cloncurry or a drive in, drive out basis (DIDO) from Mount Isa, or a fly in fly out basis (FIFO) from Townsville or Brisbane. The roster is eight days on and six days off (8/6).

Qualifications and Competencies Required
Registered Nurse qualifications with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
Manual car licence
Certificate in Alcohol and Drug testing
Current Advanced Life Support Certification
Current IV Cannulation Competency
Highly Desirable Competencies
Demonstrable Emergency or Critical Care nursing experience
Certificate in Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support
Post Graduate Qualifications in Occupational Hygiene
Certificate IV in Training and Assessing
Certificate in Occupational Audiometry
Demonstrated experience in similar roles with strong stakeholder relationship skills and delivery focus
High level of understanding of Microsoft Office, Medical Director and SAP
Knowledge and application of Queensland Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Acts and Regulations
Key responsibilities will include;
High level assessment and treatment of both work and non-work-related medical presentations
Accurate and timely reporting, documentation and administration
Efficient and effective procedure development, tools and templates
Advise personnel who undergo health monitoring of their results/outcomes in a timely fashion
Oversee the medical evacuation facilities
Ensure the helicopter landing and the emergency RFDS airstrip are serviceable
Proactive emergency planning
Alcohol and drug testing & carrying out hydration testing on a regular basis
Health and medical coaching to the Emergency Services Officers and the Emergency Response Team
Training the Emergency Response Team in emergency medical disciplines
Workplace rehabilitation and injury management, ensuring injuries are managed in a manner which is consistent with MMG and legislative requirements
Maintain high levels of confidentiality
Maintenance of medical service equipment and medical facilities
Drug administration in compliance with the Drug Licence
