Job description

We are looking for a self-driven, focused, passionate, resourceful and hardworking practitioner who can take on a diverse caseload, including paediatrics, with the opportunity to lead their own team.

Experience in Mental Health, Complex Home Modifications and adaptive technology is a BONUS.

You will be working alongside other Allied Health practitioners, hence an opportunity to learn and develop new skills, especially within the NDIS industry.

Summary of the Position

The Occupational Therapist is a client-facing role focused on delivering direct services. This role includes:

• Deliver Occupational Therapy services to clients with varying needs.

• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver positive outcomes that align with clients’ goals.

• Complete relevant assessments and provide client-centred interventions.

• Undertake high-level reports/Assessments (NDIS and others).

• Prescribe and advise on assistive technology, specialist equipment and training…

• Liaise with relevant stakeholders.

• Achieve company KPIs.

• Effectively manage caseload with strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

Management and Leadership opportunities:

Footsteps seeks an individual with leadership and management aspirations to grow our burgeoning Allied Health team.

The right candidate must be highly autonomous and excited by the opportunity of growing their own team and side of the business.

With the support of senior management and clinical direction, the individual will review current processes and improve/streamline them to deliver high-quality services.

Accountability:

Report directly to Footsteps’ General Manager with supervision from one of FCS’ qualified supervisors and support from Footsteps’ Clinical Directors.

Main responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day activities linked with the delivery of Occupational Therapy services.

• Undertaking high-level assessments/reports for the NDIS (and others).

• Meet budget and growth targets as well as individual and team KPIs.

• Develop and maintain dashboard and reports as identified by Management.

• Address employees and clients’ needs in a timely fashion.

• With a can-do attitude, solve day-to-day hurdles as they arise.

• Respond to allocated clients’ enquiries regarding the services provided.

• In circumstances where Footsteps is not the best option for the client, work with the client or referrers to find a more suitable alternative support pathway with other allied health professionals.

• Oversee the implementation and ongoing monitoring of plans and assessments.

• Establish and maintain a good rapport and communication with clients and stakeholders.

• Communicate with individuals in a respectful and age-appropriate manner.

• Complete all necessary documentation related to service delivery.

• Participate in services development and planning activities, training and development activities and team meetings (attendance is compulsory).

• Contribute to a positive workplace environment grounded in mutual respect and professionalism with all colleagues.

• Contribute to the evaluation and analysis of guidelines, policies, and procedures applicable to their clinical/professional work and may be required to contribute to the supervision of discipline-specific students.

• Contribute to workplace education through the provision of seminars, lectures, and presentations.

• Contribute and participate in quality improvement practices for the business unit.

Future responsibilities:

• Develop and lead an allied health team. Provide line management support.

• Work jointly with the HR team to ensure employees’ satisfaction and training.

• Ensure appropriate use of resources and completion of Team objectives.

• Recruit, support, train and supervise other OTs, including junior staff

Key selection criteria:

Mandatory:

• At minimum a relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy.

• Valid AHPRA registration (for OT).

• A minimum of 3 years experience as an OT (post student-placement).

• Experience in developing NDIS reports.

• Good knowledge of the NDIS principles and processes.

• Experience delivering progress reports, cognitive/functional assessments, and assistive technology reports (preferably in the NDIS context).

• Strong networking skills.

• Strong report writing and computer skills.

• Competent in the following assessments: Functional Capacity Assessment, Vinelands Adaptive Behaviour Scale, ABAS II, WHODAS, Canadian Occupational Performance Model or similar.

Interpersonal Skills:

• Excellent communication skills and ability to establish an effective rapport with clients and their families.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and abilities.

• Ability to provide written reports as necessary.

• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and autonomously.

• Demonstrated ability to give instructions and follow reasonable directions from management.

Appreciated:

• Demonstrated management and leadership experience.

• Experience in NDIS home modification assessments and reports.

• Experience is workplace evaluations (ergonomics assessments).

• Competent in sensory Profiling.

Other:

• Roadworthy vehicle and current driver’s license.

• Unrestricted working risks in Australia.

• Hold or be willing to obtain a current criminal history screening positive notice card, a current Blue Card, NDIS Worker Screening, and first aid qualifications.
