Rhonda Jane is a registered NDIS provider established in 2018 with increasing demand for services, located in the beautiful seaside city of Warrnambool. Our staff have substantial combined experience in the disability, aged care and family violence sector. We strive to make a participants NDIS journey individualised and effective by creating positive experiences for everyone involved. Positions are available for Part Time to Full Time Subcontractors with above award rates and sign on bonus ( $135 + per hour).
Qualifications & experience
As a condition of employment as an Occupational Therapist, the following requirements are essential:
- A Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) or equivalent qualification that meets the registration requirements of the Allied Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
- Knowledge and understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and NDIS Quality and Safeguards Framework is highly desired.
- Ability to provide direct services to participants living in South West Victoria areas of Warrnambool, Portland, Hamilton, Terang, Port Fairy and Camperdown areas.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with colleagues, clients and key stakeholders
- Demonstrated customer service skills and a person-centred approach to working with participants.
- Ability to work with NDIS participants of children and adults.
- Demonstrated written communication skills including the ability to produce accurate client files, develop referral documentation and communicate to other health professionals
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in a team based work environment.
- Exceptional organisation skills and the ability to work autonomously
- Demonstrated commitment to person-centred approaches.
- Own car covered by Third Party Insurance at a minimum.
- A current full Victorian driver’s license, and the ability to drive to participant’s homes and other relevant functions as requested.
- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- Current Criminal Records Check.
- 100 points of identification.
- Right to work within Australia.
- Completing NDIS workers orientation module
- Must have ABN and purchase professional indemnity and public liability insurances (Sub Contractors)
Tasks & responsibilities
Home based occupational therapy assessments and related intervention including all areas of activities of daily living, mobility and home safety:
- Participants receive quality and timely therapeutic supports essential to promote and maintain independence, build capacity, overcome barriers and improve daily living skills.
- Equipment prescription and relevant clinical justification.
- Home modification recommendations with relevant diagrams
- Recommendation of community based services
- ADL and functional needs assessments
- Equipment applications for government equipment programs
- Pressure care management
- Communicating assessed needs clearly and precisely to client and funding organisations within appropriate time frames.
- Providing clients with all available options / solutions within assessment brief and funding guidelines
- Ensuring recommendations meet all legal requirements, including Australian Standards (where applicable).
- Completing relevant paperwork relating to assessments (both clinical and administrative) to a high standard, including client file case notes.
- Liaison with other community based organisations and GPs etc to ensure best practice in holistic client focused care.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients, families, team members and other key stakeholders.
- Consistently demonstrate best practice and a commitment to quality standards, proactively identifying needs for improvement and showing initiative in meeting these improvement needs.
- Commitment to the ongoing development of Rhonda Jane services.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development within both work time and personal time, including maintaining up to date knowledge of evidence based practice.
- Accurately record client intervention for billing purposes
- Be committed to ongoing personal and professional development.
- Participants needs are met and their dignity is maintained.
- Positive feedback from clients/participants/carers/family members on therapeutic supports provided.
- Reflect Rhonda Jane’s mission, vision and values in daily interactions and within scope of role.
- All policies and procedures are followed.
- A high level of communication with the Director and Team Leader is maintained, including advising of any potential risks to participants or the organisation.
- Induction and Work Health and Safety are undertaken upon commencement of employment and ongoing throughout employment to ensure continuous improvement.
