SalaryThe Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Officer is an advanced level clinician who coordinates Patient Safety and Quality Improvement management activities in accordance with professional standards.
Please note: this position may also be filled by a Clinical Nurse or Administration Officer (Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Officer) as per the attached role descriptions.
The Role
An opportunity has become available for an Occupational Therapist / Pharmacist / Physiotherapist – Senior (Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Officer) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Provide high-level advice to the Nursing Director, Patient Safety and Quality Improvement, senior management, clinical divisions, external health agencies and other stakeholders
- Conduct the research, planning, implementation and coordination of programs to support patient care through Patient Safety, clinical risk management and Quality Improvement activities
- Support and undertake analysis of clinical systems and reviews of health information
- Provide guidance to ensure effective, efficient and safe health service delivery, applying the principles of Patient Safety, accreditation, implementing and evaluating clinical governance activities
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
- A tertiary degree in Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy or Physiotherapy
- AHPRA Registration
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary
- Permanent full time
- Base salary ranging from $124 435 - $133 901 per annum
About Us
The Patient Safety and Quality Improvement (PSQI) team is responsible for supporting the Gold Coast Health leadership team to develop, monitor and refine a clinical governance framework, including Patient Safety, quality and other initiatives that come under the umbrella of clinical governance. The Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Unit works with clinical divisions to implement the clinical governance framework to ensure Patient Safety and continuously improving quality of care.
