The Level 6 Occupational Therapy Team Leader will develop, plan, implement and evaluate the Occupational Therapy service within the Geriatric Medicine Department. The incumbent will deliver, manage, and direct the delivery of services in complex clinical settings.
The Occupational Therapist will have recognised clinical expertise within the speciality of Geriatric Medicine and operates with an advanced level of clinical expertise and knowledge in the specialty.
The Occupational Therapist will operate autonomously with minimum direct clinical supervision and have a consultative role within the area of Geriatric Medicine across Westmead Hospital.
The Occupational Therapist will manage and support Occupational Therapy staff within the Geriatric Medicine Department and Occupational Therapy Department, ensuring service is competent and meets organisational needs and expectations.
The Level 6 Occupational Therapy Team Leader is to provide professional responsibilities under the direction of the Head of Department of Occupational Therapy, and/or the Deputy Head of Department of Occupational Therapy and will be required to manage specific tasks or projects, particularly in their absence.

Essential Criteria
Qualification: Degree or Diploma recognised by AAOT-NSW
Registration in line with Award requirements: Registered OT through AHPRA
Selection Criteria * Demonstrated high level clinical expertise and experience in acute, rehabilitation and community aged care services in the assessment, management and evaluation of clients
- Demonstrated extensive experience in leadership, management, staff supervision and support, service planning and organisation, and knowledge of issues that affect health care delivery
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, initiative, time management and commitment to clinical team building
- Demonstrated effective management of human resources and understanding of Occupational Therapy clinical and workforce planning issues
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated ability and experience in leading quality improvement, including experience in NSQHS Standards evaluation and audits
