Reporting to the People and Culture Manager, the OHS Business partner will ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of OH&S programs and practice across their operations in Victoria. They will also facilitate the development of team members, implementing strategies to mitigate risk, and assisting in the management of hazards. As a trusted subject matter expert, the OH&S Business Partner will work closely with various stakeholders to promote a safe and healthy work environment, while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.
The core activities of this position will include:
- Supporting the P&C Manager in sponsoring a positive safety culture and helping to develop robust systems to drive compliance with OH&S policies and procedures
- Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, near misses, identifying root cause and recommending preventive measures
- Participate in onboarding and understanding OHS inductions
- Assisting in the review and support the overall OHS strategy/plan through effective health and safety programs
- Manage entry permit requirements
- Serve as a point of contact for OHS regulatory agencies and participate in inspections, inquiries, and reporting
- Stay informed about emerging OHS legislation, regulations, and industry trends
- Manage safety information management platform
- Investigate deviations from standards and provide recommendations
- Provide input to the development of the OHS training plan and assist in the execution of the training plan
- Act as site facilitator for the OHS risk management program and associated monitoring systems
- Lead the safety council and safety leadership meetings
- Provide monthly OH&S report to the P&C Manager
- Develop and embed lead indicators to create a behavior approach to OH&S
Qualifications and experience we are looking for include:
- Demonstrated experience in a Health & Safety Adviser, Consultant or Business Partner role, preferably within food manufacturing
- Qualification in Work Health & Safety or related discipline
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and evaluate OHS programs and initiatives effectively
- Strong collaboration skills
- Strong knowledge and application of relevant laws and regulations applicable to Victoria
- Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Analytical mindset with ability to interpret data and identify trends to drive continuous improvement
- Proficient in conducting risk assessment, incident investigation and root cause analysis
- Proficient in Microsoft suite
- Ability to take initiative
