Roster: HIVE 5:2 5/4:3 Roster 10 Hour Days
Reporting to the Mining Systems Support Lead, the Onboard System Specialist works closely with many site-based operational and maintenance teams and reliability engineers. This pivotal role assumes responsibility for all onboard upgrades across Caterpillar Command for Hauling and Flanders ADS systems. Outside of upgrade periods, the specialist provides essential support to site maintenance teams, acting as a critical escalation point for daily business-as-usual (BAU) support and conveying insights on long-term issues to broader teams. This position is instrumental in ensuring our Mining Systems' seamless operation and enhancement, fostering collaboration across departments to achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead upgrades to existing technology platforms, ensuring coordination, planning, scheduling, communications, and change management.
- Conduct impact and risk assessments, validation of upgrades, and ensure compliance with training governance.
- Provide governance and management over all onboard configurations including version central and configuration alignment across sites and fleet types.
- Quickly investigate, troubleshoot, and prioritise daily production issues in partnership with OEMs, ensuring minimal operational disruption.
- Effectively communicate with OEMs, Maintenance teams and Reliability Engineers about daily and BAU issues
- Assist in identifying and escalating long-term operational issues to the Reliability Team, working in tandem to facilitate comprehensive solutions and improvements.
- Being part of a team of other Mining Systems Specialists and Improvements support teams within the Fortescue HIVE working closely with the OEM Application Specialists and key operational stakeholders
Qualifications and Experience
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Caterpillar Command for Hauling Onboard
- Proficiency or exposure to Flanders ADS is highly desirable.
- Project Management Framework and Change Management required skills required
- Advanced computer literacy & passion for Mining Autonomy, Innovation and Technology
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to multitask on several activities/priorities simultaneously.
- Flexibility with site travel is required for this role
