The role
Heart of Australia is a mobile healthcare service delivering specialists and their equipment to rural and remote communities across Queensland.
The job and hours can vary based on patient and client requirements.
You must be willing and able to travel and stay away from home working on a flexible roster including split shifts. Night driving may be required at times. This is a casual role with ongoing work.
All flights, travel and accommodation are organised by Heart of Australia while on rotation.
This is a unique and specialised role helping country Australian's access life-saving medicine in their own backyards – you'll be the one keeping our wheels turning.
Key tasks
- Delivering trucks (including MC and HR) and their equipment to communities and work sites in a safe and timely manner
- Ensure the trucks are appropriately parked and set up at each location (set-up and pack-up)
- Cleaning, washing, and tidying of both inside and outside of the prime mover and trailers (clinics)
- Assisting with operational duties during clinic hours
- Ensure the prime mover and trailers are all monitored and assessed for damage/maintenance and repairs daily and recorded/reported as appropriate
- Minor and necessary repairs and maintenance of the trucks/trailers/clinics
- Other operational, clinic and non-administrative tasks and duties as required (full training will be provided)
About you
We're looking for highly skilled and flexible people to join our team of truck drivers operating our custom-engineered and designed B-Double clinics proficiently across the state. Ideally, you will have the following:
- Current and valid MC licence with a responsible driving history
- Proven MC driving experience with a minimum of 2 years
- Flexibility to work at short notice and varying hours
- A can do attitude - motivated and able to use your own initiative
- Road ranger experience
- A good understanding of load restraint
- Responsible manual handling experience
- Previous rural and remote MC driving experience is preferred
- An ability to engage positively with patients and clients
- An ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Commitment to follow all OHS regulations
- Be reliable and punctual with a good work ethic
- Present yourself neatly and professionally
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
