About the role:
We have a great permanent full-time opportunity based in either Narrandera or Forbes for an enthusiastic Operations Assistant to join the team.
This position is responsible for conducting forest works & maintenance, monitoring to ensure compliance with defined standards and performance targets within set timeframes.
The Operations Assistant will also communicate and negotiate with a variety of stakeholders including permittees, contractors and neighbors. The safe and effective operation of plant and equipment is required.
The successful candidate needs to be able to work autonomously and with minimum supervision.
Other Key responsibilities include:
- Tree marking, pre-operational surveys, biodiversity monitoring and resource investigations in accordance with applicable operational plans, guidelines and District programs.
- Undertaking a variety of forest work (such as road maintenance, weed control, pest animal management), maintenance of infrastructure (such as buildings, fences, recreation facilities) in accordance with applicable operational plans, guidelines, District programs, and ad-hoc needs.
- Supervising various contractors as required
- Firefighting
We would love you to have:
- Organisational skills and be able to work independently across a large geographical area
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills that will enable you to develop effective relationships with stakeholders
- A passion for the outdoors, enjoy practical hands-on work and using technology
- The ability to be an agile learner, quick to develop and apply new skills
- Although knowledge and experience in native forest management and forest operations is desirable it is not essential and for the right candidate, we offer full training and development
