Brisbane Markets Limited (BML) is the owner of the Brisbane Markets site and is responsible for its ongoing management and development. The site occupies 77 hectares of land at Rocklea, just 11 kilometres south-west of the Brisbane CBD. As the proprietor of the site, BML has over 160 Tenants and over 250 leases in place including Selling Floors, industrial warehousing, retail stores and commercial offices.
Brisbane Markets is an economic hub of Queensland, facilitating the trade of more than 700 million kilograms of fresh produce annually, valued at over $2 billion, supporting local and regional businesses of the horticulture industry. BML purchased the site from the state government in 2002 and is owned by over 400 shareholders, including investors from throughout the fruit and vegetable supply chain. This strong industry investment ensures the ongoing professional and commercial management of the Brisbane Markets for the benefit of the horticulture industry.
We are the hub that fuels Queensland, with buyers coming from Local Cafes, Michelin Star Restaurants, Takeaway Chains, Supermarkets, Hospitals, Army Barracks, Cruise Ships and of course your local Grocer!
BML’s Operations team is responsible for maintaining site security, safety and cleanliness for the more than 4,500 people who attend the site each day.
The Role
We are currently in search of a dedicated individual to join our highly valued Operations Team in the role of full-time Operations Assistant - Sweeper Driver. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to consistently deliver exceptional results with minimal oversight.
This position primarily entails day shifts, Monday through Friday, with occasional opportunities for overtime and weekend work. As a pivotal member of our team, you'll enjoy a high degree of autonomy, meaning you must have great attention to detail, good time management abilities, and a strong sense of responsibility to perform scheduled tasks effectively.
In addition to running the road sweeper smoothly, you'll also pitch in with other cleaning jobs when required. If you're ready for a role that mixes independence with teamwork, we'd love for you to apply and be a key part of our lively team!
The Successful Candidate
The nature of this essential operations position requires the right applicant to have demonstrated experience or possess the following:
- Possession of a current MR license with a clean driving record;
- Willingness to obtain or possession of a current Forklift License (expenses covered);
- Demonstrated comprehension of safety protocols;
- Prior experience in road sweeping or related field;
- Capability to conduct routine maintenance and basic mechanical inspections on the road sweeper;
- Demonstrated proficiency in time management.
