Operations Coordinator

The Polaris Marine Group is an Australian marine business located in Rozelle, Sydney NSW.  We have been providing services to the maritime industry along the east coast of Australia for over 35 years in sectors including inshore and offshore towage, marine construction and maintenance, vessel and barge supply along with vessel crewing. The Polaris Marine Group is a privately owned company that has strong financial stability and now encompasses three growing and busy entities within the Group.

We are currently seeking a permanent full-time Operations Coordinator to be based in our Sydney office for an immediate start (flexible). You will be required to assist the Operations Manager in effectively managing the day to day running of operations within Sydney Harbour and elsewhere including the overall responsibility of vessels, crews and the delivery of services.  

We offer a salary of $75,000 (negotiable), an enjoyable working environment and a beautiful waterfront location.

The successful candidate will have:

• Strong communication, time management and organisational skills
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Word and Excel
• Familiarity with administration and finance functions
• Understanding company income/costs for quotation purposes
• Attend to rostering taking into account job priority, available staff, annual leave and training needs
• A positive attitude with a solution-based approach
• Ability to ensure implementation of and adherence to company policies

Marine specific (desirable):

• Marine qualifications
• Studies in Maritime, Logistics or Project Management
• Experience working in a marine environment

You will be expected to:

• Work closely with the Operations Manager and the senior management team to ensure productive & effective management of resources, vessels and crews
• Coordinate the day-to-day planning of crew and work on Sydney Harbour
• Provide leadership through good presentation, communication and client relationships
• Assist in quoting and tendering for business procurement in a professional and timely manner. 
• Help to consistently improve procedural and operational efficiencies.
• Act as the first point of contact with clients and crew, managing emails and phone calls
