About the role
The Operations and Maintenance Superintendent for the Brine Concentrator Operations is of substantial importance, requiring meticulous oversight of a critical path asset within Energy Resources Australia. The role extends beyond daily operations, as it also plays a key part in a site transitioning to a closure and rehabilitation project.
Your demonstrated ability to engage, connect with and positively influence key stakeholders at all organisational levels will be critical. You will be an inspiring role model and coach for positive behaviours, practices, and processes, whilst providing leadership, development, and support to a team of operational professionals responsible for operating and maintaining this asset to ensure reliability and achieve production targets.
The role is either FIFO from a capital city or Darwin based, on a Bus in Bus out arrangement between Ranger Mine and Darwin, or locally based residential in Jabiru. Subsidised housing arrangements for Jabiru residents will be included.
Reporting to the Utilities Manager, accountabilities of this role include:
- Empowering your fixed plant operations and maintenance team to improve safety culture through the continued implementation of the Safety Maturity Model and RTSPS
- Collaborating with key stakeholders to drive a culture of participation and improvement, building close partnerships with key operational and project stakeholders
- Accountable for the operations and maintenance schedule, budget and risks against the agreed yearly Plan and providing support to the Leadership Team to identify operational issues and develop appropriate solutions to maintain safe and efficient business outcomes
- Compile and analyse data to actively manage portfolio and for reporting and metrics such as work management, shutdown management and operational performance
- Support appropriate operational governance (including risk and issue management and resolution) and ensures it is maintained within operations
- Upskilling teams so they are accountable for their own processes and procedures and to seek capital efficiency throughout the delivery lifecycle
- Implementing and sustaining process safety standards for critical risks
What you’ll bring
- A demonstrated commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Solid experience working within critical infrastructure facilities combining strong operational, maintenance or project leadership and be confident in effectively leading, mentoring and coaching team members as well as interfacing with senior leaders
- A trade background (mechanical, electrical or instrumentation) would be highly regarded
- Strong operations and/or maintenance management experience in fixed-plant processing, with the ability to define and implement business improvement initiatives to maximise capital efficiency
- Demonstrated complex problem-solving abilities to deliver solutions across an operation
- A personal aspiration to actively engage and participate in business-wide initiatives

Where you will be working
Energy Resources of Australia Ltd (ERA) is a publicly listed company with Rio Tinto its major shareholder. ERA has mined and produced uranium oxide from its Ranger mine in the beautiful and rugged Alligator Rivers area of the Northern Territory since 1980. The Ranger mine is located on Aboriginal land, and is surrounded by, but separate from Kakadu National Park.
Mining at Ranger ceased in November 2012 and since then, Ranger has been processing ore from stockpiles.
