QML Pathology is one of Australia’s leading comprehensive clinical laboratory and pathology services. About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager - Pathology Operations, the Laboratory Operations Manager oversees a range of activities at QML Pathology.
Responsibilities:
- Represent the business unit, brand, and team to internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead initiatives in the core laboratory aligned with Healius Group strategy, focusing on Operational Excellence, Technology Innovations, People Experience, and Surpassing Service Expectations.
- Manage core laboratory operations, including people leadership, team development, and performance alignment.
- Coordinate and participate in budget and forecast preparations, presenting to management for approval.
- Collaborate with leadership to establish and implement frameworks for operational efficiency.
- Manage staff rostering, overtime, consumables volume and overhead expenses in line with fluctuating volumes and within agreed budget
- Operate within the policies, guidelines, and Delegations of Authority set by Healius Group executive and board.
- Partner with Healius Pathology Operations team to enhance the overall operational model.
- Lead governance, strategic planning, and implementation of operational strategies and projects.
- Ensure clinical laboratory and operational outcomes meet stakeholder needs and expectations.
- Identify, support, and develop operational talent for effective performance and succession planning.
About You
- Proven leadership experience in a large organization, preferably in the pathology sector with demonstrated ability to manage human resources and teams effectively
- Scientific tertiary qualifications and postgraduate business studies
- Hands-on leadership style adaptable to changing environments.
- Resourcefulness and strong analytical abilities.
- Highly developed communication skills and ability to build effective relationships.
- Understanding of quality assurance management concepts and their application.
- Knowledge of the regulatory framework governing the healthcare sector in Australia.

- Understanding of budgets and operational planning and problem-solving skills
