About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available at Scouts ACT’s Camp Cottermouth for an Operations Manager. Working under the direction of the Executive Officer, you will lead a dedicated on-site team to provide hospitality and a welcoming venue to our guests, while at the same time continuing to grow both revenue and profitability of the site’s multiple income streams.
This role is offered on a full-time basis, although part-time would be considered for the right candidate. Flexible hours and days are required for this role.

About Camp Cottermouth and Scouts ACT
Camp Cottermouth, Scouts ACT’s premier group accommodation, camping and adventure facility, is located in a picturesque setting adjacent to the Murrumbidgee River just 7 minutes’ drive from the outskirts of Canberra via the Cotter Road. Set on two sites across 24 hectares (59 acres), Camp Cottermouth offers cabin and camping accommodation, conference and dining experiences, and outdoor adventure to school and community groups, Scout groups, and the general public.
Camp Cottermouth employs approximately seven staff, mostly casual and part-time. They are supported by the Scouts ACT Office team.

About You
You have strong commercial acumen with the ability to implement sound contemporary business practices, strengthen processes, and ensure compliance and performance, to achieve sustainable growth.
You are skilled at developing and implementing strategic revenue plans and know how to manage operations to achieve predetermined budgets and forecasts.
You can effectively manage all operational areas so that they perform profitably and sustainably, while ensuring the consistency, quality and integrity of the products and services offered are maintained.
You are a natural problem solver and people leader, with an ability to empower and lead a diverse and dynamic team. You know how to motivate staff to ensure a high performing team culture is maintained and you’re capable of creating an environment in which guest expectations are met at every opportunity.
Ideally you have had experience with a not-for-profit or social enterprise that creates great customer experiences.
You may have tertiary qualifications in Business Management, Education, Outdoor Recreation, Tourism, Events Management, or a related field. Alternatively, you may have run your own successful small business.
You hold a current Working with Vulnerable People registration, or you have the ability to acquire. You also have a current driver’s licence, and access to your own vehicle and mobile phone. You will also need to provide proof of your right to work in Australia if invited to interview.
Remuneration
A salary package of between $90,000 - $100,000 plus super is available to the right candidate and will be dependent on skills and experience.
A modern 3-bedroom home is available on site and may be negotiated as part of the salary package.
