SalaryThis superb WA civil contracting business has been delivering complex and challenging civil and infrastructure projects since the early 1980s. Their current focus is delivering four separate Perth metro civil and water-related infrastructure projects including micro-tunnelling, pipe-jacking, pipelines, sewer lines and drainage, for private and public sector clients. They are now seeking a strong leader to take on the role of OPERATIONS MANAGER across these projects in Perth on permanent basis.
About the Role
As OPERATIONS MANAGER, you will lead project staff across the multiple work fronts working closely with your group of project managers to ensure delivery of projects to schedule and budget, troubleshooting technical issues and resolving project challenges where required. You will lead the planning, scheduling, and budgeting of projects as well as evaluating safety standards, ordering supplies and materials, and keeping track of vendor pricing. Typical projects undertaken by this contractor range in value up to about $5m but are often undertaken concurrently across many worksites. The OPERATIONS MANAGER will manage project teams in the metro region typically working 7.00am to 5.30pm weekdays visiting each site as required, with the odd Saturday half day required pending progress and deadlines. You will be a critical piece within the senior management team leading teams of specialist personnel to execute contracts for clients that may include; Water Corporation, PTA, private land developers, local councils, and other head civil contractors on major projects. In addition, you will liaise with key client stakeholders and subcontractors so it is essential that you are a natural leader with excellent all-round interpersonal skills. This role will suit either a seasoned OPERATIONS MANAGER seeking a change of scene, or a PROJECT MANAGER with relevant project experience on complex civil infrastructure projects valued up to $5m including; micro-tunnelling, pipe-jacking, pipelines, sewer lines and drainage. The successful OPERATONS MANAGER can expect a terrific remuneration package CIRCA $180K Base + Super, Vehicle, phone & laptop.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications Required
- Bachelors degree in Engineering
- At least 10+ years’ experience as Project/OPERATIONS MANAGER delivering projects in Australia such as micro-tunnelling, pipe-jacking, pipelines, sewer lines, drainage or other similar civil projects
- Your past civil industry experience must have been gained while working for Civil Contractors (*not client side)
- Excellent cost management and contractual understanding
- Strong ability to prioritise and organize requirements across multiple sites, staff, materials and equipment
- Proven leadership capabilities to lead minimum 50+ staff
- Superb all-round communication skills to liaise with all stakeholders including clients and subcontractors
- Currently Perth based with existing rights to work in Australia
- Current C Class WA Driver’s Licence
- Available within 4 weeks’ notice period maximum
- Perth Metro position, No FIFO!
