In this role, you will be reporting directly to the Branch Manager. You will have overall responsibility for fleet control, loading and unloading of linehaul, rail and the Pick-up and Delivery (PUD) Fleet and Check Weigh Cube (CWC) function.

About what you bring to the Darwin Team
- Experience in the Transport and Logistics Industry.
- Experience in a supervisory or management position with strong general business acumen.
- Excellent judgement skills and proven ability to make resolute, fair and consistent decisions.
- Proven history of developing and maintaining key relationships with employees, customers and suppliers.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve set KPI’s and targets (including financial performance, individual and team goals).
- Demonstrated people management and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in navigating the Microsoft Office suite and company specific software programs.
- High levels of focus and a commitment to Health, Safety & Environment practices.
About the role
- Overall responsibility for the Darwin Freight Operations including (but not limited to) fleet control, loading and unloading of Pick-Up and Delivery (PUD) fleet and Linehaul/Rail.
- Ensuring efficient utilisation of resources to meet customer expectations in accordance with Northline’s documented transit times and DIFOT targets.
- Reporting/highlighting any issues with revenue, loads, costs and service to the Branch Manager, working collectively to resolve/provide solutions.
- Supporting the Depot, Night Shift and Fleet Supervisors to motivate and manage their teams through conversations and sharing timely and constructive feedback to enable a culture of accountability and delivery.
- In conjunction with the Depot Supervisor, ensuring the loading of linehaul units and containers are blended effectively to maximise revenue, cube and weight, whilst ensuring units are loaded and leave on schedule.
- Working closely with the Operations team, helping to make decisions on loading (rail vs. road), ensuring equipment availability, scaling up and down linehaul requirements as volumes fluctuate, completing registers/reports and accurate load sheets daily.
- Ensuring the Depot is appropriately maintained including plant and equipment maintenance, housekeeping etc.
- Ensuring all employees are provided with all information, instruction, training and supervision necessary to safely and competently perform their duties.
- Reviewing and determining root cause of damages, lost freight, held overs, and PUD/load and unload times not being met.
