The Opportunity:
Role: AFTERNOON OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR
Location: Kemps Creek
Expected Hours of Work: Monday - Friday 1.00PM-10.00PM
Reporting directly to the PM Operations Manager this role is responsible for supporting the smooth operations for our Afternoon shift at the Kemps Creek depot. The successful applicant will control and ensure loading/unloading operational functions are completed safely, efficiently and according to time schedules while monitoring labour requirements.
The position will include the following duties but will not be limited to:
- Ensure quality, express movement of freight delivery, no delays or losses, in accordance with Company policies and procedures;
- Maintain daily control over freight distribution, timelines, freight security, freight handling care and paperwork management;
- Maintain team leadership – setting day-to-day order of tasks for your assigned team leaders, truck drivers, forklift drivers and dockhands;
- Conduct corrective action(s) training with employees;
- Re-schedule jobs between team members and/or priority of tasks as required;
- Re-check freight exceptions for prompt delivery;
- Actively participate in the recruitment process including conducting interviews and inductions of new employees;
- Ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures;
- Staff supervision and management;
- Coordinate the inbound/outbound operational movements;
- Maintain regular housekeeping;
- Carry out general duties including administration tasks as required;
In order to be successful in this role you must possess the following skills, attributes and qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within the transport and logistics industry (Essential)
- A broad understanding of transport laws, fatigue management and safety requirements
- An adequate level of literacy, numeracy and computer skills
- IT Literate
- Demonstrated solid experience in supervising and coordinating staff
- Excellent communication skills written and verbal
- Be highly organised with a keen eye for detail
- Experience in line haul, in particular scheduling trucks and drivers
- Sound knowledge of regional NSW
- Good understanding of the transport COR
- Understand fatigue management law
- Good knowledge of trailer configurations and mass management
This is a full time salaried position with remuneration dependent upon experience and qualifications.
