Mater Research are looking for a Operations Support Officer to join the team. With more than 300 laboratory and clinical researchers working across Mater's hospitals and the world-class Translational Research Institute (TRI), Mater Research is committed to working closely with Mater Health, Mater Education and our growing network of partners to turn scientific discovery into the best possible treatment, care, and outcomes for patients and our broader community.Salary range: $79,454 - $85,619 per year plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900What you'll be doingThe Operations Support Officer provides a broad range of high quality administrative and general support activities to facilitate the effective functioning of the Research Operations team. The position specifically contributes to the functions led by both the Operations Manager and the Lab and Safety Manager.While primarily an administrative role, there are aspects of the role which would suit a candidate with some prior experience in a laboratory environment or who is excited to develop some laboratory safety experience.About youYou will have relevant experience providing administrative and general support functions in a medical research, university, healthcare, or similar setting. Experience in a laboratory environment is desirable but not essential (refer to additional desirable criteria listed below).
- Demonstrated high level administrative and organisational skills.
- Great interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and engage effectively with people from a range of diverse professional levels and backgrounds, within and external to the organisation.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a small and dynamic team, contributing across a broad range of activities and taking guidance from a number of different senior staff members.
- Appropriate digital literacy skills, including proficiency in standard software platforms such as Microsoft Office suite, Teams, Zoom, Adobe, and the ability to quickly gain proficiency in enterprise specific systems and programs.
- An understanding of PC2 and/or Clinical laboratory practices (desirable)
- Knowledge of chemical Safety Data Sheets (SDS) or DG (Dangerous Good) classes (desirable)
- An understanding of cold storage practices including storage of biological specimens at -80 degrees and in liquid nitrogen (desirable)
