The Operations Team Manager manages a 24/7 roster, overseeing the port's daily operations, including customer relations, vessel scheduling, traffic management, warehousing services, and equipment optimisation. They work closely with stakeholders to prepare vessel schedules and ensure efficient operations.
You will understand the value of building relationships with direct reports and internal and external stakeholders. A critical element of this role is a strong focus on maintaining positive customer relationships, understanding key stakeholders' needs, and fostering a collaborative respectful relationship between parties.
Background and Essential Criteria
A demonstrated track record in managerial and leadership roles, showcasing the ability to lead agile teams. A proven capacity to cultivate robust relationships with team members, nurturing their development and growth with a commitment to providing comprehensive support to enhance their skills and capabilities, ensuring the seamless execution of day-to-day tasks.
Key competencies include:
- Resourcing and contingency planning to maintain operational efficiency.
- Daily liaison with maintenance, planners, and infrastructure teams to coordinate equipment and berth availability.
- Oversight of customs and biosecurity procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Achievement of service standards within compliance parameters and operating budgets.
- Efficient management of rosters, leave, payroll, and timesheets to optimise workforce productivity.
- Flexibility to balance on-site presence with practical requirements.
- An uncompromising commitment to health, safety, and the environment.
Proven experience in industrial or similar types of environments with experience in leading and managing teams and familiarity with a 24/7 operation would be beneficial.
