About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced OSHC Coordinator to develop and lead an Out of School Hours Care program. The successful candidate will be in charge of, and responsible for, the effective and efficient operation of the Outside School Hours Care Service (involving After School Care) placed under their control in accordance with the school philosophy, policies, procedures and guidelines.

The program will cater for Primary aged children, offering a wide range of activities focussed on children's sense of physical and emotional wellbeing, both indoor and outdoor.

The OSHC Coordinator will work as a member of the ELC and Primary Schools Leadership Teams, in the delivery of a happy, rigorous, innovative, inclusive, nurturing, encouraging, caring and safe learning environment where each student is challenged to achieve their personal best.

Key duties:

  • Plan and implement a quality educational program
  • Lead the development and implementation of a weekly OSHC program as part of the ongoing programming cycle, which will clearly be documented for all relevant stakeholders
  • Monitor the implementation of programmed activities through observations and gathering of information to ensure they are child-oriented and developmentally appropriate, to actively support children's participation in the program
  • Create an aesthetically inviting and relaxing OSHC environment which fosters creativity and independence and supports children's physical and emotional wellbeing
  • Guide staff to utilise a variety of teaching strategies that reflect the philosophy of YBR and its OSHC program, and are guided by children's developmental needs, interests and abilities, and are reflective, in daily work
  • Develop improved OSHC programs as required, in consultation with the YBR Principal and the ELC and Primary Schools Leadership Teams
  • For staff to encourage children to develop independence and responsibility through the establishment of a proactive environment that builds confidence, resilience and a willingness to have a go
  • Evaluate programs regularly and make appropriate modifications and recommendations so that staff can meet the individual needs of children
  • Monitor, support, guide and supervise educators in the implementation of programmed activities as required
  • Ensure appropriate levels of staffing for OSHC
  • Staffing and staff development - ensuring that all staff are appropriately qualified and/or assisting them to obtain the required qualifications
  • Ensure appropriate "responsible people are trained and present at all times

Skills & Experience:

In line with sector regulations, the following compliance documentation will be required for the role:

Accepted qualifications include (qualified or currently studying):

  • Bachelor of Education degree (primary, secondary or early childhood)
  • Children's services
  • Nursing
  • Education Support
  • Youth Work
  • Disability support
  • Physical education
  • Out of school hours care
  • Post-secondary qualifications in the fields of health or allied health.
  • Previous experience working in a leadership role within an OSHC setting (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices in education and care.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma Management qualifications (or willingness to obtain).
  • Valid Working with Children Check and Police Check.

Desired Skills & Experience:
Previous experience as OSHC Coordinator is preferred.
