The headspace Our Way Our Say program has been co-designed with First Nations Peoples living in the Darwin region as part of the National Suicide Prevention Trial. The program aims to deliver culturally safe, evidence informed, holistic, skills-based approach to mental health education and suicide prevention to middle and senior school students.

What’s the role?

  • Support school-based facilitators, stakeholders & school communities to deliver the program
  • Ensure that cultural, clinical and reporting requirements for the program are adhered to and data is collected fidelity
  • Provide the Program Manager Darwin with support in the planning, development and implementation of the program
  • Including cultural advice, stakeholder engagement, school recruitment establishing & facilitating network meetings, delivery of professional learning and reporting any issues as they arise

Is this the right role for you?

  • Please note this is an identified role and must be occupied by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person
  • There are two roles available, due to cultural protocols one role is to be filled by a male and one is to be filled by a female
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge and understanding of First Nations Peoples cultures, social and emotional wellbeing frameworks, risk and protective factors, help seeking and suicide prevention, particularly relevant to First Nations Peoples living in the Greater Darwin region.
  • An ability to be able to authentically engage & build relationships with middle and senior school students to deliver the program.
  • An understanding of youth mental health issues including suicide postvention, suicide, and the impact of trauma on school communities.
  • Experience in culturally safe program development and/or training and delivery in secondary school settings.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work and interact with a broad range of people

NT PHN/RWA NT may be able to offer relocation support and clinical educational financial assistance to health professionals who are relocating to the NT or moving within the NT to a greater remoteness area classification for the purposes of employment and further clinical education.
