Job description:
  • Ongoing (35 hrs. per week)
  • Parramatta with flexible working arrangements available
  • Clerk Grade 3/4, base salary ($79,032 - $86,539), plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

The team is a high-functioning group of committed people that are responsible for ensuring the Department of Communities and Justice's (DCJ) compliance with the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act) and the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act), as well as ensuring compliance with subpoenas and statutory orders relating to the provision of information. We offer flexible work practices in a very supportive environment and on-the-job training is provided.

What you'll do

The Paralegal will be responsible for providing legal, clerical, and administrative support, undertaking legal research and making enquiries as directed by solicitors and other staff. In addition, you will be responsible for deciding applications lodged with DCJ under the GIPA Act, handling applications for access to information under the PPIP Act, facilitating the production of material for subpoenas and statutory orders. Vital to success in the role is a high-level of written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage simultaneous issues and competing priorities.

What we're looking for

  • Experience in providing legal, clerical, and administrative support and client service.
  • Current and valid Working with Children Check Clearance.
  • Fingerprint checks are required to be conducted at a Police Station and obtained prior to commencing with the Department.

Appointments are subject to reference checks. Some roles may also require the following checks/ clearances:

  • National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
  • Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
