Parish Finance Officer (Part-time - 15.5 hours)
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Finance Officer to join the Sacred Heart-Emmaus Parish, St Albans-Sydenham in a part time role reporting to the Parish Priest. The role of the Parish Finance Officer will be to manage the Parish finances in an efficient and timely manner.
The successful applicant must be well motivated to work for the Church and ideally possess a strong commitment to its practices and values. He/she must be able to recognise and respect the pastoral aspect of the Parish.
This permanent part-time position is based at the Parish Office in St Albans. The role is 15.5 hours per week over 3 days with some flexibility regarding days of work. Terms and conditions are governed by the Archdiocese of Melbourne.
Key Requirements
- Experience in managing a computerised accounting system
- Familiarity with Salesforce Software package
- Confident working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Good communication skills with ability to relate to a variety of people
- Team orientation, including ability to work harmoniously with staff and volunteers
- Initiative and a capacity to work with a minimum of supervision
- Maintain records in a confidentiality, tidy and readily accessible manner
- Maintain a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and discretion.
- Ability to work to timeframes with attention to detail and priorities while handling regular interruptions
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly IAS and quarterly BAS and submit to the ATO
- Prepare reports for Finance Committee and attend Finance Committee meetings as required
- Send any payroll related changes to the outsourced payroll provider and enter weekly payroll journals into the accounting system
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial reports as required by the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne
- Other tasks as directed by the Parish PriestManage all aspects of the accounting and finances of the Parish including thanksgiving (Parishioner financial contributions)
- Administer the Presbytery account under the direction of the Parish Priest
- Organise supplier payments, enter supplier invoices and payments in accounting package and organise and enter other ad hoc payments
- Reconcile the bank statement weekly and Administration of petty cash float
- Reconciliations and Reporting including monthly reconcile the Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement
- Prepare the budget for each year in consultation with the finance committee
