About the role

The role is focused on delivering consistent high-quality customer service to the library community during weekend opening hours at Chatswood and branch libraries. You are an experienced supervisor who can deliver operational front-line library services, creating a safe and welcoming environment for customers.

You are enthusiastic about sharing books and information with others, and have the IT skills required to use the library management systems and the resilience to deal with a broad range of customer queries.

You must have excellent customer service skills, be good at problem solving and can work under pressure. With a motivated and well informed team you will deliver ongoing development and implementation of key initiatives.

The role comprises of shifts totaling 19.25 hours per fortnight on weekend and evening shifts as required.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in library/information science, other relevant qualifications or experience which allow professional membership of ALIA (Australian Library & Information Association) or other relevant qualifications and experience.
  • Current Class C driver’s licence
  • Working with Children Checks
  • Experience working within a library service and library-based technology
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, making decisions promptly, in line with established procedures
  • Experienced in supervising and training casual rostered staff
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and an understanding and commitment to the provision of excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work as an effective member of a team, willingness to support colleagues across various initiatives.
  • Experience using library-based technology with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary library services
