About us
Yirara College is a well-regarded, independent, secondary Aboriginal boarding college based on Christian values, providing a wide range of teaching and recreational programs for its students. Located 8 kms south of Alice Springs in Central Australia.
The Role
Yirara College is seeking a experienced Payroll Officer to assist the Director of Business Operations in the delivery of all payroll related matters for a large workforce of over 100 staff.
The role's responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining accurate and detailed personnel records (Position Descriptions, Letters of Offer, Classification Levels and Agreements, Entitlements, Communications, Deductions, Superannuation, and any other relevant documents relating to an employee.
- Responding efficiently and confidentially to management and employee enquiries.
- Preparing payroll in accordance with statutory requirements and College policy.
- Preparing Government statistical employment returns.
- Ensuring that authorised deductions are made for employees pay and that amounts deducted are remitted by the due date to the payee.
- Processing allocations of labour to the correct General Ledger account in the College's Chart of Accounts.
- Providing accurate interpretations of the relevant Awards and sections of the College Enterprise Agreement.
- Ensuring payroll transactions balance to the General Ledger.
- Assisting staff with regards to enquiries and obtaining information concerning their superannuation or salary sacrifice arrangements.
About you
The successful candidate will need to possess:
- Demonstrated experience working in the same or similar role
- Strong experience in the technical and legal aspects of payroll practice
- Confidentiality, integrity and a commitment to professionalism and accountability.
What is on offer
- An above award salary plus Super;
- Salary sacrificing of $15,899 pa.
