Job Summary
The Cost Accountant performs duties related to the recording of costs for raw material, work-in-process and finished goods in the ERP system, records month-end variance and adjusting journal entries, calculates new standard rates and prepares cost quotes for new items upon request. The ideal candidate should have a solid foundation in general accounting and analytical and problem-solving abilities. Essential Functions
- Performs journal entries, reconciliations, and preparation of production reports for month-end close activities.
- Ensure validity and accuracy of ERP through analysis, internal audit and production variances.
- Completes standard cost rolls and maintain appropriate documentation for new standards’ development, including determination of cost standards for materials and labor with internal facilities and review of co-manufacturer contracts to establish overhead standards.
- Provide product cost and analysis support documentation to all external and internal auditors.
- Ability to reconcile production, usage, receipts and shipments of inventory data.
- Performs standard cost estimation task and variance analysis
- Compiles and reviews purchase price variances. Calculate and maintain bill of material product standard costs.
- Identifies and implements process improvements
- Performs ad-hoc financial analysis
- Monitors products costs and ensure they align with established budgets.
- Provides analytical support and insights on project/products costs and budgeting.
- Collaborates with internal employees across a variety of departments and works closely with other departments to ensure smooth products management and costs control.
- Liaison with the external audit team to ensure the timely delivery of audit requests
- Uphold inventory control standards and manage inventory control
- Responsible for multiple projects with a focus on critical deadlines
- Maintain a schedule of critical month-end procedures and processes.
- Ensure month-end close activities, including balance sheet reconciliations, related to cost accounting are completed timely and accurately.
- Regular and punctual attendance, physical presence in the workplace when required.
- Proactive and clear communication with supply chain partners.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in accounting with CPA
Required knowledge and experience
- Minimum 2 years of accounting experience with manufacturing background required.
- Technical accounting knowledge and skills including knowledge of GAAP.
- Ability to independently manage tasks with strong attention to detail and a level of accuracy
- Demonstrated analytical, organization, and communication skills
- Strong analytical abilities to evaluate and interpret financial data
- Proficient in MS Office, accounting software, Microsoft Access databases and advanced MS Excel skills
- Must have SAP experience within the manufacturing industry
- Fluent in English and Mandarin
- Experience working collaboratively across departments and functional areas
- Previous experience in a similar role within manufacturing, IVD or a related industry
