Perth Racing (the trading name of the West Australian Turf Club) is the premier thoroughbred racing club in WA, operating both Ascot and Belmont Park racecourses. As a multi-faceted racing, entertainment and event business, we stage more than 100 race meetings per year, including the high-profile Melbourne Cup, Perth Cup, The Quokka and The Pinnacles series.
The role
We are currently looking for a highly motivated key account management professional to establish, manage and support our business development agenda.
A highly organised self-starter, with an agile and innovative approach, you will thrive on the challenge of supporting our contracted Business Development Manager in prospecting across new markets, to achieve agreed KPIs across Sponsorship, Race Day and Non-Race Day profit centres.
As Partnership and Client Services Executive, you will establish a client service framework, including regular communication, stewardship, feedback, measurement and reporting to ensure the best possible client experience.
As the primary point of contact for our sponsors and partners, you will ensure all contractual obligations are fulfilled (signage, advertising, tickets and hospitality etc) in collaboration with relevant internal teams (particularly Marketing, Events and Finance), and ensure all sponsor databases are up to date. You will be responsible for the meticulous planning and management of all relevant account administration, including the scheduling of contract renewals, the drafting of new business proposals and contracts, the generation of relevant purchase orders / invoices etc.
You will anticipate client motivations, track market trends, proactively seek feedback and use data to demonstrate the Perth Racing value proposition. There will also be opportunities to become involved in frontline sales and business development.
Working week – please note
This role will ideally suit a Tuesday – Saturday working week; however, applications from candidates seeking Monday – Friday hours will also be considered as long as there is the flexibility to work occasional Saturdays (in exchange for a day in lieu).
Skills and experience
We are seeking a tenacious individual with the following skills and experience:
- Tertiary education is desirable
- At least five years’ work experience in a relevant sponsorship / partnerships / business development / client engagement or key account management environment - ideally in the tourism, hospitality, retail or entertainment sectors
- Demonstrable track record of corporate relationship building and Client account management
- Experience in preparing detailed contracts / reports
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal ability
- Discretion and diplomacy
- The ability to work both under direction and on own initiative
- Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience of working effectively with a database – accurate data entry and reporting
Desirable, but not essential
- Experience in business development / sales
- Sales training
- Knowledge of the racing environment.
