An exciting opportunity currently exists for enthusiastic and experienced Patient Services Assistants (PSA) to join our Acute Psychiatric Unit (APU) and our Parent Infant program (PIP) on a Permanent Part Time or Full Time basis.
The Acute Psychiatric Unit is located at Austin Hospital campus. The APU is a 30-bed inpatient unit providing the following services:
19 acute beds for the North East Area Mental Health Service (NEAMHS) covering the municipalities of Banyule and Nillumbik and two regionalized specialist Programs:
- 5 inpatient Eating Disorder Program beds
- 6 inpatient Parent Infant Program beds.
Our Parent Infant Program is located adjacent to the APU. It has 6 parent beds and is one of two public parent infant wards in Victoria.
As a Patient Services Assistant you be required to join our PSA team to ensure that the levels of cleanliness, hygiene and food handling meet and maintain the required accredited standards for hospital-based services.
This position is predominantly Monday to Friday however at times there may be a requirement to cover our weekend shifts.
The hours required are from 0730-1630 hrs Monday - Friday with both Part Time and Full Time considered.
To be successful in this role, essential knowledge and skills required:
- PSA Certificate – Certificate III in Health (Patient Services)
- Willing to work in a hospital environment with unwell people
- Flexible attitude to work requirements and routine depending upon the need of the unit
- Willingness to carry out all PSA duties and tasks and work in a team
- Ability to use initiative and to prioritise tasks and problem solve
- Physically capable of undertaking the full range of PSA duties
- Basic verbal and written English skills
