This is a Recruitment Pool for Permanent Full Time, Permanent Part Time, Fixed Term Full Time, Fixed Term Part Time and Casual appointments, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency for Fixed Term appointments.

We currently have multiple positions available. The pool will be open for appointment for 12 months but may be closed earlier.

About this role

Working as a Patient Support Assistant (PSA) at Osborne Park Hospital is a privilege as it offers an opportunity for you to contribute to excellent patient service. PSAs deliver a high standard of cleaning and hygiene essential to ensure patients are treated in a safe environment. PSAs work as part of a team both with their peers and contributing to the effectiveness of the clinical and clerical team at OPH. PSAs deliver specimens to the laboratory and transport blood products and medical consumables around the hospital as well as medical records. PSAs move patients within the ward and to other departments for treatment in beds and wheelchairs and on trolleys as required.

This role reports to the Coordinator General Support Services.

Osborne Park Hospital (OPH) provides specialist health care services for the community in the north metropolitan area and is located in Stirling, 14 kilometres from the Perth central business district. The hospital provides a comprehensive range of specialist health care services for the north metropolitan suburbs. The services at OPH are provided by three main specialties consisting of Rehabilitation and Aged Care Services and Younger Adult Rehabilitation, Surgical Services and Women’s & Newborn Services. Each of these specialties has a dedicated Allied Health Services Team.

What we are looking for

To join our hospital Patient Support Assistant team, you must:

  • Have excellent patient/customer service skills.
  • Be able to work as part of a team with limited supervision.
  • Be reliable and punctual.
  • Be able to write and speak English.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Have physical capacity to perform the duties of the position.
  • Understand and maintain patient confidentiality and dignity.
  • Have knowledge/understanding of infection control and/or hygiene principles.

To be eligible for a fixed term appointment you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the period of the contract.

Conditions of Employment:

WA Health engages staff in positions of trust and responsibility; referee checks will be sought. Prior to employment, WA Health requires all staff to undertake satisfactory:

  • Criminal Record Screening / Integrity Check; and
  • Pre-Employment Health Assessment clearance.

Other Conditions:

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 30/04/2025.
