Payroll Coordinator

  • 12 month Fixed - Term contract initially
  • Perth based position
  • Some ability to work from home
The opportunity
Are you a Payroll professional who is excited to coordinate, support and mentor others? Do you have a passion for ensuring that payroll processes are completed with accuracy and within deadlines? If so, we have the perfect role for you!
As a Payroll Coordinator, you will be responsible for guiding and supporting our team of Payroll Administrators and Payroll Administration Assistant to ensure that all pay runs are processed and finalised within the payroll deadlines. You will assist the Payroll Team Leader to ensure that our payroll processes are efficient, accurate, and compliant with relevant regulations and legislation.
Key responsibilities
Some of the major accountabilities of this role are:
  • Coordinate daily tasks and responsibilities of the Payroll Administrators
  • Assist, support and provide guidance to the Payroll Administrators.
  • Develop, review and update Payroll procedures when necessary to improve efficiency.
  • Participate in major payroll projects including system testing and development if required.
  • Manage all aspects of Silver Chain's superannuation responsibilities.
  • Processing and reconciling payroll transactions to the General Ledger.
  • Long Service Leave and other ad hoc audits.
  • Payroll data error exception analysis.
  • Bureau of Statistics reporting.
  • Government Parental Leave processing.
  • Workers Compensation back-up.
  • Finalisation of fortnightly, manual and adjustment pay runs through STP and completion of all other associated processes relating to the successful close and reporting of each pay run.
About you
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in a similar role and will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
  • Experience coordinating a team of Payroll Specialists.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in Payroll systems and procedure development.
  • Knowledge and understanding of payroll related legislation, in particular taxation and STP requirements, salary packaging, superannuation and workers compensation.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to research and respond to queries from internal and external parties in an effective and timely manner.
  • Advanced computer literacy skills including payroll system knowledge, databases, spreadsheets and word processing software.
  • Time management and organisational abilities to effectively plan and prioritise work tasks.
  • Previous leadership or coaching experience
  • Prior involvement with the implementation of Payroll systems.
Desirable:
  • PayGlobal, SAP experience is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Enterprise agreements
  • Working with multiple agreements
