Entity of the NSW Government are recruiting a Payroll Officer for an initial period of 12 months with view to extend.
CBD based with a hybrid working model, with WFH up to three days / week once settled.
Primary purpose of the role:
The Payroll Officer provides accurate, timely and efficient payroll services in accordance with business, legislative, taxation and audit requirements.
Key accountabilities:
- Manage the preparation and payment of staff payrolls in line with business, legislative, taxation and audit requirements;
- Continually monitor and maintain complex, high volume payroll information to ensure the ongoing accuracy and integrity of payroll records and systems;
- Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to provide advice on, and resolve, payroll issues, and ensure accurate payroll development and processing;
- Manage contract staff during election periods by establishing and maintaining performance standards, allocating resources, and training and coaching to ensure that agreed business objectives are met;
- Develop and implement policies, procedures and internal controls to contribute to operational efficiency and ensure compliance with government legislation and policy;
- Identify, investigate and provide recommendations regarding irregular or erroneous payroll expenditures and transactions to meet financial standards and audit requirements, and to mitigate business risk;
- Prepare reports, returns and other documentation as required to support the business in meeting it's taxation, superannuation and other legislative and statutory obligations; and
- Take a proactive approach to collaboration and information sharing across the function and wider organisation to foster teamwork and promote service excellence. Support the Finance team to achieve function and corporate goals.
The ideal Candidate:
- At least two years precious end-end/full function payroll experience;
- Previous Government experience highly desired;
- SAP experience highly desired; and
- Intermediate user of MS excel inc. daily use of pivot tables and V lookups.
