ABOUT THE OFFICE
The Finance Office plays an integral role in the success of the University ensuring responsible stewardship through financial performance and strategic procurement, with a view to financial sustainability and growth.
The Finance Office implements an operating model that enables a greater level of engagement across the University supporting the identification and prioritisation of initiatives that deliver operational efficiencies and provide reporting solutions that inform decision-making.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Working in a detail oriented and deadline-based environment, this role will be responsible for administering and processing payroll to enable accurate and timely payment of staff. The role will work closely with other members of the payroll team to achieve operational goals, including maintenance of personnel and payroll records.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing end-to-end payroll processes, including Single Touch Payroll reporting, salary packaging, separation payments, leave management and superannuation on the University’s payroll system.
- Collect, calculate and enter data to maintain up to date payroll information and resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Verify the calculation of pay, entitlements, or disbursements prepared by others prior to processing.
- Providing exceptional customer service to staff and the community by providing high quality and timely service, responding to staff salary and entitlement requests.
- Interpret and apply a variety of awards and comply with and maintain up-to-date knowledge of organisational policies, procedures and legislative/regulatory requirements.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure all payroll information and records are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements.
- Participate in projects, which enhance the payroll function.
About You
Qualifications & Experience
- Completion of a degree without subsequent relevant work experience, or completion of an advanced diploma qualification and at least 1 years subsequent relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Demonstrated payroll experience, preferably in tertiary or higher education sectors.
Knowledge, skills & abilities
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to consistently produce work of a high standard
- A strong commitment to excellence in customer service and a hands-on approach to service provision
- Demonstrated experience using PeopleSoft or Oracle payroll system and MS Office, with intermediate skills in Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
- Proven ability to problem solve, multi-task and effectively manage competing priorities.
- Superior customer service skills and a commitment to continuous improvement and implementing efficiencies.
- Ability to work as an effective member of a team as well as the ability to exercise independence and judgement where required
