MMA Offshore has an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Officer to join our Finance division. This is a Part-time 12-month fixed-term role on 4 days / week arrangement. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the role will provide accurate and effective administration of payrolls including month and end of year consolidation, maintain accurate payroll records, assist with other payroll related payments and reconciliations and liaise with employees to resolve queries. This position is based in our Perth CBD office with hybrid working from home arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the processing of fortnightly and monthly payrolls for Australia, UK, Singapore and other regions as/when applicable.
- Read and become familiar with the different employee contracts and Workplace Agreements.
- During processing, check that allowances, overtime and accruals are paid as per the relevant agreement and/or employee contract.
- Ensure that the Payroll is processed, checked, approved and submitted to the bank before the bank’s cut-off time on the specified pay day.
- Assist with the administration of the Payroll System.
- Input and quality check Payroll data such as setting up new employees, terminations, salary and position changes, employee deductions, banking and superannuation details.
- Assist with the timesheets transfer and timesheet imports into the Accounting system, checking that all timesheets have been approved.
- Identify and Implement efficiencies with the payroll processes wherever possible.
- Assist with other payroll related payments such as PAYG, superannuation and payroll tax.
- Liaise with employees, Management and other departments (as applicable) to resolve all queries.
- Assist with ad-hoc reporting as required.
- Minimum Year 12 secondary education certificate
- 3-5 years’ experience doing end to end payrolls with multiple awards and/or Workplace Agreements
- 2-3 years’ experience with an automated Payroll System
- Definitiv payroll system knowledge as an advantage
- Understands Australian legislative requirements and various payroll related taxes ie FBT, Payroll tax, Super requirements etc.
- Strong understanding of payroll practices, legislation, and compliance.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
- Intermediate skills using Excel
